Brief Description...

Pete Pitilis Jr. is a fifth year student in the Architectural Engineering Program at Penn State University. In May 2018, he will graduate with a Bachelors of Architectural Engineering, with a focus in structural systems. Pete has taken multiple graduate courses ranging from Computer Modeling of Building Structures to Building Failures.

Most recently, Pete interned with a structural firm in Maryland named Structura Inc. While interning there, he assisted in the design of new buildings, additions and repair. His duties consisted of performing analysis and design for concrete, steel, and wooden structures; collaborating with in-house engineers and architects throughout all design phases; and drafting plans/details in AutoCAD and Revit. Pete looks forward to working at a structural firm where he will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, all while gaining further experience and knowledge in hopes of becoming a Professional Engineer.

During the summer of 2016, Pete interned with a construction management company named Balfour Beatty. During his time there, he worked at the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Quantico, Virginia. Pete performed the duties of both a project engineer and quality control assistant. His duties included overseeing subcontractors on a day to day basis, performing pay apps, takeoffs, RFI’s, creating and tracking notice of deficiencies, and perform prep/initial/follow-up meetings for all subcontractors.

Pete played on the baseball team during his sophomore and junior years. Although he does not play anymore, he spends a majority of his time staying active outside. Most importantly, Pete has a fiancé named Lesly along with a 2-year-old daughter named Elena. Lesly and Pete met at Penn State and love raising their daughter as a young Penn Stater here in Happy Valley.
